In Maritime College, while pursuing a B.Sc. in Meteorology, Fred also served as the Chief Hospital Corpsman for 2 semesters and as a corpsman on the Training Ship while underway each Summer, where he was involved in long term patient care under the direct supervision of a Doctor and Nurse.
