Junior EMS

Mission Statement
The Springwater Wayland EMS Junior program seeks to improve the lives of youth in our community by providing them with opportunities to develop a sense of pride in themselves, their abilities, and their community.  We aim to provide our youth volunteers with educational, leadership and service opportunities which are character building, increase self-confidence, and which prepare them for future service in their family and community.

In 2018, Springwater Wayland EMS started a Junior EMS program. This program is designed to give youth from our community an opportunity to learn about EMS while also experiencing the benefits of volunteering and helping others.

Within the first year of the program, our Junior EMS team grew to 9 members. Meetings are held before the regular membership meeting and all activities are supervised by at least two adult members.

Our program starts at 14 years old. All youth members are encouraged to get certified in CPR, First Aid, and Stop The Bleed. At 16 years old, youth members are allowed to ride on the ambulance as observers. They may also be sponsored for Certified First Responder at 16 or Emergency Medical Technician certification classes at 17 years old.
