SWEMS is proud to announce that we have received a new ambulance and placed it in service. The new ambulance is a 2024 Demers ambulance on a Ford F-450 4 Wheel Drive chassis. This new ambulance has Liquid Spring suspension for improved patient comfort, a split duct HVAC system for more efficient heating and cooling, and many other upgrades for patient and crew safety.
This purchased was supported through a combination of grants and loans. Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes secured a $100,000 SAM grant through NYS and the USDA Rural Development program provided a combination of $50,000 grant and $162,000 low interest loan for the remainder of the purchase. Part of the financing package includes upgraded radio, and additional patient care equipment.
