SWEMS Receives new Power Stretcher

Pictured here, Chief Frederick Grambs (l), EMT Matthew Tucker (r), and Junior member Rose Sabins (on cot) demonstrating the new Stryker Power Pro XT cot.

SWEMS would like to thank the Gary Sinise Foundation for the donation of a new Stryker Power-Pro XT Cot, valued at $17,526 with a new cot mount. This stretcher replaces a 15 year old Ferno stretcher that was becoming costly due to needing more and more parts replaced.

This new stretcher has a patient weight limit of 700 pounds and features a powered mechanism, so we do not have to lift patients like we did with the old one…this alone is a huge safety upgrade for both our volunteers and our patients. Jasmine also covered some of the upgrades going on with the Bennett Brothers building. We have received approval from Code for the necessary upgrades and work is in progress. The new garage door has been installed and the electric and water is being upgraded to meet our needs.

This donation was features in the Genesee Country Express.
