HNI Foundation and Covid-19 Unity Response Fund Donations

The members of SWEMS are happy to announce that we have received a $1,000 donation from the HNI Foundation to assist in building a dedicated decontamination room at our base.

We are also grateful for a grant we previously received during the height of the pandemic for $3,300 from the Covid-19 Unity Response Fund to support our PPE and decontamination needs. That grant was used for several items:

– Emergency Personal Protective Equipment purchases including N95 masks, isolation gowns, and face shields

– Commercial grade Washer and Dryer to allow our members to change their clothes at the base and minimize risk of bringing contaminated items home to their families. This was purchased from Raubers Agway.

– An Ecolab solution to cost-effectively clean and decontaminate the ambulances and the base. This includes a new fogging system to better deep clean the ambulances.

Moving forward, this donation from the HNI Foundation will be used towards the buildout of a dedicated decontamination room with a shower and changing area. The estimated cost for that room buildout is around $3,500 and this is a great step in that direction.
